| Today we don't need to write much! Thank you Julia Buckley for sharing our shoe news with London. The title read "Big feet are in for a treat" but unfortunately we had to shorten it in this website version so that you could read the text. If you would like a larger copy then please let us know. We hope that you enjoy reading and learning about our shoes. |

Sunday 25th November 2007 - Greenwich Market AGAIN
 |
This is our stall at Greenwich market. As you can see, there are lots of green boxes and lots of shoes! Visiting one of our market stalls is a fantastic opportunity for your to try on our shoes and to check your size.
Our shoe sizes are made to International Sizing Standards. As most of you are not used to wearing properly-fitting shoes such as ours, we are finding that many of your are needing a larger size than you are used to wearing.
As you can see, it might be freezing cold but it was great fun meeting many of you! And in case you don't think that we have enough samples for you to try, there are lots more boxes underneath the green fabric on the stand table and we've got a big van around the corner so we can nip out and get you your correct size and style.
More info about our market stalls. We look forward to seeing you next Sunday at Greenwich Market. |

Wednesday 21st November 2007 - Greenwich Market For those of you who attended Greenwich Market last Sunday and visited our stall, we were delighted to meet you. As you will have noticed, we had the sea of bright, green boxes and we were quite close to the entrance the Cutty Sark DLR. We hope that you found it useful to be able to see the shoes for yourself and to be able to try them on.
To the lady from Manchester, we're chuffed that you can now find shoes for your daughter to wear! It's a bit of a trek but we are glad that we were able to help you. Also to the lady from Brighton who was so delighted that our shoes fit her and made her feet appear small that she bought 3 pairs of DIONNE shoes, one in each colour. We hope that you're enjoying wearing them!
We're now sorting out everything out for this weekend as we will be at 2 different markets. Have another look where we will be and pop along where you can.... |

Monday 5th November - Remember, remember the 5th... Remember, remember the 5th.... Or even the 4th.... We know it's quite early but we're in the office and, rather than discussing fireworks (that we've been hearing overhead all weekend!) we're discussing 'sizing-up' and size 4. Some of you may be aware that most women's shoes in the high street are made by 'sizing-up' designs for smaller feet, typically size 4. This is described at the bottom of our home page and there are more details on our Designs Features page.
So what exactly do we mean? Most high street retailers finalise a design for a size 4 shoe and then the design is enlarged by adding ratios to the width, depth, length and heel height. So when you reach much larger sizes 10 or 11, the width, depth, length and heel height are typically enormous and so many women 'step-out' of them and struggle to wear them. Also usually (but not always) women with larger feet are taller and so they do not always want the extra heel height.
We think that some of the retailers have cottened on to the heel height enlargement and so have tried to change the 'angle' of the shoe during manufacturing to lower the heel height. Whilst this is much cheaper as you do not need to re-design a shoe and purchase new lasts, changing the 'angle' of a shoe so it has a lower heels tends to lift the front of the shoe off the ground a lot and give it excessive 'toe spring'. You may have noticed this yourself already.
That's why we design all shoes exclusively for a larger foot. None of this 'sizing-up' nor changing the 'angle' of the shoe during manufacture nor excessive 'toe spring'. Although the proof is in the pudding.... |
